Youth Offenders Program, Santa Barbara

The fast, convenient way to keep your license!
With over fifteen years providing this service to the community, the Youth Offender Program (YOP) at Zona Seca is a 5 hour (four Classroom, one Independent) non-judgmental information based prevention program. Instruction Is provided by a licensed therapist and intended for individuals who receive single citations for one of the following charges: Minor in Possession of alcohol B&P 25662, Possession of false identification B&P 25661, Possession of marijuana (less than 1 oz.) H&S 11357 a Pre-trial agreement with Santa Barbara Superior Court enables individuals to have their charge reduced from a misdemeanor to an infraction preventing the loss of your Driver's license for 1 year. The charge will be reduced to an infraction of "Disturbing the Peace" PC415. Multiple offenders are not eligible for this program.
The program Is designed to provide current and accurate information to clients so that they may make informed decisions to prevent the many potential consequences associated with drugs and alcohol. Clients are encouraged to develop an interest In their own well being and to consider the behaviors and strategies most likely to support their short and long term goals. Clients develop skills to assess and avoid the risks associated with alcohol and drugs and learn the potential consequences. Zona Seca will provide resource referrals or optional counseling to graduates of the Youth Offender Program by request.
Curriculum
A (4) four hour introduction meeting consists of (3) presentations (1) an experienced licensed therapist who is native to Santa Barbara and familiar with Isla Vista (2) a guest speaker who shares her story of DUI and the impact It continues to have on her life (3) Law Enforcement (SBPD), provide Information on procedures, how to avoid legal consequences in the future, and answer questions.
On an individual basis clients are required to attend (1) community support meeting, either AA, MA or NA, or Alanon. Meetings may be attended in your community (Out of town meeting schedule or Internet search results are required documentation for non -local meetings.)

Notes:
Program Sobriety will be enforced at all times. We require that you do not consume any drugs or alcohol 24 hours prior to your groups. If you are observed having indication of alcohol consumption, participation within the group will be denied.
Program Transfers - If you do not live in the state of California, you will have to obtain a transfer from Zona Seca. Transfers are only offered to another state licensed program. There is a $100.00 transfer fee.
