As a Family Violence Diversion Provider, approved by the Santa Barbara County Probation Department, Zona Seca offers a rehabilitative alternative to incarceration for domestic violence convictions.
Zona Seca has had a Family Violence Treatment program for twelve years. We have the experience and capacity to provided this service in both Spanish and English; furthermore, we have an in-depth understanding of the cultural values which impact this behavior. Additionally, Zona Seca also provides comprehensive drug and alcohol counseling and can enhance domestic violence classes with other counseling if needed.
Violence is recognized as the expression of hostility and rage through physical force directed against persons or property. Because violence is aggression in its most extreme and unacceptable form, Zona Seca takes a

According to Section 1000.6 of the California Penal Code, domestic violence is defined as intentionally or recklessly causing or attempting to cause bodily injury to a family or household member or placing a family or household member in reasonable apprehension of imminent serious bodily injury to himself or herself or another.
Considering the critical nature of domestic violence, Zona Seca reserves the right to assess whether or not a client will benefit from the program, and may refuse to enroll a client in the program.
The program will include the following:
There will be an initial interview as well as an exit interview.
A format will include twelve individual therapy sessions. This approach allows each client to address his or her own personal needs and issues. Forty-five two hour weekly support groups are also included. Clients will have an opportunity to develop a support system with other men and will be able to give and receive feedback.
A maximum of three no shows will be allowed, but these missed sessions must be made up.

Group Evaluation
Two sessions are devoted specifically to substance abuse. Other sessions tied to substance abuse issues will examine the cultural aspects, anger and handling of feelings, crisis management, self-hate, emotional needs, self-esteem and relationships. Individuals may be referred for further treatment, as well as mandated to attend meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous.
