Zona Seca, Inc.

Dear Friends:

Welcome/Bienvenidos!

Thank you for showing an interest in one of Santa Barbara's best-kept secrets, Zona Seca, Inc. For over 30 years, our agency has assisted over 60,000 people living in Santa Barbara who have had a substance abuse problem.

We've accomplished our goals two ways. The first is through our volunteer board of directors and the leadership they bring to the agency. The second is our employees, who are committed in providing professional and caring services to our clients. Together, our agency is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of our clients, which in turn contributes to the quality of life for everyone in our community.

The Findings . . .

Some people may wonder how effective are programs like Zona Seca and others in providing substance abuse services. The findings and declarations section of hte State of California Substance Abuse and Crime Prevention Act 2000 states in part:

 a. Substance abuse treatment is a proven public safety and health measure. Nonviolent, drugs-dependent criminal offenders who receive drug treatment are much less likely to abuse drugs and commit future crimes, and are likelier to live healthier, more stable and more productive lives.

b. Community safety and health are promoted, and taxpayer dollars are saved, when nonviolent persons convicted of drug possession or drug use are provided appropriate community-based treatment instead of incarceration.

The 21st Century

As we enter into the 21st century, the need for increasing prevention, intervention, and treatment services for youth, adults, and families is clear. If our community is to continue to preserve its quality of life, then the public, private and goverment sectors need to be willing to continue supporting services such as those Zona Seca offers, as well as similar services offered by other organizations. We invite you to find out more about the services Zona Seca provides, and the individuals in charge of providing them by further surfing our web site. Again, thank you for your interest in Zona Seca, Inc. If you would like to contact me with any questions, you may reach me at fbanales@zonaseca.com or give me a call at (805)963-8961.

Sincerely/Sinceramente,
